Cultural Lens

Overview

This activity is an extension of 0.5 Investigating Bias. Students will create a visual of their culture as a reference point to see how A.I. activity results or output may or may not represent their culture values, language and celebrations. The visual can be in any open-ended, creative form, like glasses or sunglasses, a wheel, or story map, or natural landscape with labels or descriptions of cultural features.

Time:

10 min. = to list unique cultural features under 1) values, 2) language and 3) celebrations, as a starting point.

15 min. = to draw or make a visual representation of one's culture; ideas are, but not limited to, a pair of glasses or sunglasses, or a wheel, or a story map, or a natural landscape with land formations (butte, mesa, plateaus, lakes, rivers, streams), animals, plants, trees, sky, clouds, housing, etc.
