Overview
I changed the lesson to include storytellers from the state of New Mexico, however, teachers can change the authors to reflect their areas/regions/states. This modification was designed to build Culturally Relevant elements into the AI curriculum. This change helped my students identify and connect with the culture in their particular region/area. Culturally responsive practices acknowledge and respect the diverse cultural backgrounds and experiences of students. The emphasis on New Mexico authors and storytellers makes it particularly relevant for my students.
